After a few weeks of attempting to contact the owner, he finally replied that he would "look into it" and that we really should contact the billing company. Perhaps he did look into it, but he never got back to us. That was the last straw and we were going to cancel quietly and peacefully.
The business owner seems to be a very nice man but that is not enough to make up for the way he runs his gym. Right off the bat my partner and I were informed that he offers unlimited tanning for $20 a month. It sounded great until he went on to say that as a gym owner he isn't held up to the same regulations and standards as tanning salons, which means he can offer a lower cost.
Ignoring this red flag we continued membership for two months. During that time we discovered the changing room had no light switch, towels were not always stocked, and there was some explainable projector...
We didn't think much about this since we were getting what we considered to be a pretty good deal. Then the bill came. It was more than DOUBLE our membership rate and we had already paid the first month and sign up fee. We soon learned we were not the only members who had inconsistencies with our bills.
But now, trying phone number after dead end phone number that the owner has listed, I am frustrated beyond the point of redemption.
Initially, I was very excited to find a 24/7 facility in my little town. The location was great and the facilities looked up to par. From there, everything went down hill.
To be clear, I do not think this man is TRYING to over bill us. However; his negligence, unimpressive facilities, and general lack of customer relations have all left me a little burnt up. I would rather jog alone at night.
