Great Christian god christ oriented gospel Baptist Church

Where I fell in love with Jesus

I have always had a love and deep admiration, respect for pastor Boston and his family. With that said, we wound up leaving our church home after several incidents left us reconsidering our attendance. First, my little brother came home from the church bus with gum in his hair. Second, a family who goes to this church, relatives, mind you; kicked us out of the house we were buying and had already paid well over $20,000+ for. They couldn't even wait until we were moved out to have someone come in and refinance the house; it turns out we were basically just paying their mortgage. One of them has a leadership role in the church as its youth pastor. But by far the thing that turned us away the most, was how our fellow churchgoers treated us. We lived in a single parent household, and churchgoers were constantly nabbing at my Mom about working on Sundays. When she entered into a relationship and moved into a new house with her new fiance, they would nag her for sleeping with someone before marriage. When we stopped going to New Hope, we would see church members. I would smile and wave and say hi, my family doing generically the same. They would say nothing. We were met with a blank stare. They didn't even acknowledge us. That was the final nail in the coffin. These people don't practice what they preach, or at least the parts that are actually WORTH preaching, such as judge not, least ye be judged. It just goes to show you that the adage rings true that some of the most accepting, loving people you'll ever know will be covered in tattoos, and some of the most judgmental people you know go to church on Sundays.

I don't foresee myself going back to New Hope anytime soon, although I've always been tempted to. My religious views have drastically changed since leaving New Hope to the point where it wouldn't make sense for me to go anyway. I have nothing but love and wish the best for the Bostons and those members who actually did demonstrate the principles of love and tolerance.
